The plan fee everyone quotes is 12% of what you actually pay. Shopify Payments is unavailable in India under RBI payment-aggregator licensing, so the platform fee and a gateway MDR both apply — plus 18% GST on the MDR. Defaults shown are the Grow plan; set Shopify's transaction fee to 2% for Basic or 0.6% for Advanced. COD orders are exempt from the Shopify fee, so a COD-heavy store pays less than this.

What this calculator answers

One yearly figure for a Shopify store in India, with every fee line in it.

Cash on delivery is exempt from Shopify's fee, so the more of your orders are COD, the smaller Shopify's cut. The defaults come from Shopify's published India prices, dated in the guide; your own gateway rate and app bill belong in the boxes.

What it rests on

  1. Plan prices and Shopify's transaction feeShopify's India pricing page, with the date it was read. Source
  2. No Shopify Payments in IndiaShopify's list of Shopify Payments countries. Source
  3. COD is exempt from the feeShopify's help page on third-party transaction fees and manual payment methods. Source
  4. Your gateway rate and appsYour own statement and app invoices. The boxes take your figures.

What this cannot tell you

Five things to know before you act on the figure, and who made it.

  1. Your COD shareShopify's fee applies to every sale you enter here. If part of your orders are cash on delivery, the payment mix calculator in the guide takes them out.
  2. Your negotiated ratesThe gateway rate is a default. Put in the rate on your own statement; many merchants have a different one.
  3. Tomorrow's pricesShopify changes INR prices and runs offers. Check shopify.com/in/pricing and your own invoice on the day you decide.
  4. What owning a store would costThis page does not price a build. The guide sets the fees against the cost of owning the stack; for a quote on your scope, talk to us.
  5. How the GST is accountedWhether you can claim the GST on these fees back depends on your registration. Ask your CA.

When the answer is a project

When the yearly figure is big enough to think about owning the store, these are the next three steps.

  • See an online order run

An order goes from the store to the warehouse, the invoice and the payment, on a running system.

  • eCommerce development

Stores on Medusa or Commera that post every order to your books.

How much does Shopify cost in India per month?

The plan fee, Shopify's transaction fee on gateway orders, your gateway's fee, and GST on the fee lines. On shopify.com/in/pricing (checked 12 October 2026) the plans run from ₹1,499 a month (Basic, yearly billing) to ₹22,680 (Advanced), with Plus from ₹1,75,000. What a given store pays on top depends mostly on its COD share and its gateway rate, which is why a single number misleads.
