Across all ten, the audit trail is the part that stays behind. None documents a plain export of it. Four describe a way out with a catch (Zoho Books, Xero, Odoo and Spreadsheets), two say it cannot be exported (Tally and Shopify) and four do not say (QuickBooks, Busy, SAP Business One and ERPNext).

Questions people ask
Mostly yes for masters and history. Every system here describes some way to get them out, but for SAP Business One it is through its reports, and BUSY Basic has no XML export. The audit trail is what most often stays behind: four describe a way out with a catch, two say it cannot be exported and four do not say. Ask the vendor in writing about any gap.
Each cell comes from the vendor's own help or documentation pages, read on 14 October 2026, and links to the page. We did not run these exports on your data or anyone's. Forums, resellers and our own memory do not count as sources. Help pages change, so each cell shows the page's own date when it has one.
It means the vendor pages we read do not say. It is not a no and it is not a yes. Nobody should plan an exit on it. Treat it as a question to put to the vendor in writing before you decide, and keep the answer with your records.
No. A backup is a safe copy for restoring into the same product. An export is data in a format another program can read, such as CSV, Excel or XML. Several vendors here offer both. We show them side by side where the vendor's pages describe both, and we do not assume another program can open a backup.
Keep the exports and a backup. Where the audit trail is on screen only or not stated, also keep the old system readable for as long as you must show who changed what. Ask your auditor and your CA what they need to see, and for how long, before you close the old system.
Yes, for data. Data Export writes any DocType to CSV or Excel, and bench backup writes the database and, with a flag, the files. The change history is weaker: you switch on Track changes per DocType, it covers edits made after that, and the docs do not say the change history itself exports. The ERPNext row sits in the table so you can hold us to the same test.
