Which ERP is right for a manufacturer in India?

It depends on what you make and what you run today. Tally's manufacturing stops at BOMs, the manufacturing journal and job work: no production planning, routing or quality inspection. SAP Business One does more, but charges per user, and partners sell shop floor and quality as add-ons. ERPNext covers planning, job work, batches and quality with no per-user licence. Does it handle job work?

Yes. Material goes to the job worker against a subcontracting order, sits in their own warehouse in your books, and comes back counted against what went out. Yes. Many manufacturers keep Tally for the books and their CA, and run production, job work and stock in ERPNext beside it. Others move everything once the plant side works. We sell and support Tally as well, so you don't have to choose on day one.

Does it do production planning and MRP?

Yes. The production plan takes open sales orders or material requests, explodes every level of the BOM, nets it against stock and work in progress, and raises work orders for what you make and material requests for what you buy. Sub-assemblies can be made in-house or sent to a job worker from the same plan.

Can it handle a multi-level BOM?

Yes, to any depth: each sub-assembly has its own BOM, with operations, workstations and their hour rates if you want labour in the cost. Scrap and by-products sit on the BOM, and cost rolls up from material rates you choose: valuation, last purchase or price list.

Can it trace a batch and record quality checks?

Yes. Inspections can be set at receipt, on job cards, on stock entries and before delivery, against your own readings, and can block a document until they pass. Each batch keeps its receipt and readings, and one report traces it back to the supplier and forward to every customer.

What does a manufacturing ERP cost?

ERPNext has no per-user licence; you pay for setting it up, hosting and support (what moves the number). Our price comes in the written plan after the first call, from your plants and data.
